When I was a child I used to sing all the time. I used to sing at home, on the street, in kindergarten, on the bus. Everywhere. I used to sing the popular evergreen songs I heard on the radio and traditional songs that I knew from my parents.

After some time the passengers on the bus started recognizing me and asking me to sing. One day I decided to ask for the driver’s lunch and he gave it to me. This was my first paid for concert.

After graduating from the Academy of Theatre and Film Art and the ‘Bela Bartok’ Conservatory in Jazz, Martha Tally becomes the first Hungarian to receive a scholarship from Berklee College of Music in Boston and the only Hungarian singer to have a diploma from it. After college Martha moves to New York and starts performing there. Meanwhile she is invited to work at the Actor’s Alliance Studio in New York. She goes back to Hungary in 1992 and since then she has released 7 albums. Her first album ‘Quiet Motion’ is composed mainly by the standard classic jazz sound, whereas her second album ‘Changing Blue’, presents popular versions of songs by famous American artists (Peter Frampton, N. Sedaka). The album ‘Smiling’ (1998) turns her into the popular face of the jazz music. In her forth album ‘Follow Your Dreams’ (2000) the singer performs classic and modern jazz and records it with Gabor Vinand. The ablum ‘Light from the Shadow’ (2005) presents songs from the Hungarian pop and world music. In 2006 Martha Tally releases a maxi CD ‘Cocktail’ that has four new songs in English and cover versions of popular evergreens form the 70s and the 80s.

During the Jazz Festival in Bansko the artists will go on stage in a very unusual trio (Ishtavan Dyarfash, guitar, Zoltan Ola, contrabass and Martha Tally, vocals) that will take the audience on an exciting music adventure.
