"Kelag" is one of the biggest energy companies in Austria. "The Kelag Big Band", which represents the energy giant, is comprised of some of the best professionals in Austrian jazz.
The band’s history starts in 2001 when it was still a part of the "Kelag Wind Orchestra". The formation’s huge success led some of its members to set up their own band. "The Kelag Big Band" appeared in 2003, led until 2009 by Czech conductor, composer and arranger Oldo Lubich. He was then succeeded by Hans Lassnig – one of the most highly esteemed young Austrian musicians. A trumpeter, composer and arranger, he helped to expand the orchestra’s repertoire and range of styles, pushing the ensemble to new musical heights and a modern but still distinctive personal sound.
Hans Lassnig studied trumpet at the K?rntner Landeskonservatorium, and went on to win a scholarship for the "New School University" – New York. He trained with some of the greatest musicians of our time - Lee Harper, John McNeil, Claudio Roditi, Clark Terry, etc. Hans Lassnig is among the finalists of the Yamaha trumpet contest. And the album "Descarumbiando", produced with his band "Hamlet & His Latin Jazz", enjoys greet popularity.
